Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Redesign

Pima Community College is embarking on a comprehensive redesign of its diversity, equity, and inclusion planning by building on the PCC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan 2017-2020 that created a framework for the DEI office and related initiatives. From 2020 to 2023 Pima Community College increased the breadth of those initiatives and the resources to the DEI Office, and began work with various community focus groups and employee and student advisory bodies to identify ways to expand and improve on the DEI strategic plan; the feedback resulted in the redesign initiative.

Diversity, equity, access, belonging, and justice are core concepts to Pima Community College’s mission, identity, and values. The redesign is a multi-year project that involves embedding DEI initiatives, resources, personnel, data systems, and planning into all departments and into the Strategic Plan. Starting in FY 2024, PCC is beginning the redesign by continuing current initiatives while evaluating what is needed to embed IDEA throughout the institution and into the strategic plan. The goal is to launch the structural elements by 2025 and then include IDEA into the next strategic planning process resulting in an integrated plan.
