Marketing and AI Usage Policy
With the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create marketing materials, the College Marketing and Media Production offices are developing guidelines for its appropriate use.

Before creating flyers or other marketing materials, please consult with your marketing coordinator. They can assist with meeting your marketing needs in a way that maintains authenticity, meets ADA requirements and aligns with the College’s brand identity standards.

21-day Comment Period for AERC Proposed Employee Handbook Revisions
Based on employee input, the All Employee Representative Council (AERC) is proposing revisions to the College’s Employee Handbook. The proposed revisions are posted on the Employee Page in MyPima for employees to and provide feedback.

• Employee Handbook Glossary: Posted Sept. 23; comment period ends Oct. 16

Employees are encouraged to provide feedback using the Feedback Form linked in the “Draft to Review” section.

Market on the Move at Downtown Campus Oct. 8
Market on the Move (MOM) will be at Downtown Campus 9-11 a.m., Oct. 8. Fresh produce and other food items will be available for purchase while supplies last.

• $5 boxes: Available to Pima employees and students. Walk-up station at the Southwest corner of the Science and Technology (ST) Building.
• $10 boxes: Open to everyone. Drive-through station in the Northwest parking lot, west of the Advanced Manufacturing (M) Building.

Purchases are cash only and first-come, first-served. You can purchase multiple boxes for friends, family or neighbors. Volunteer Ushers Needed
The PCC Center for the Arts is seeking volunteer ushers for upcoming events throughout the 2026-27 season. Ushers assist patrons before performances and enjoy the show for free.

Months of Caring Campaign Is Oct. 16-Nov. 30
Pima’s 2026 Months of Caring campaign supporting United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (UWTSA) runs Oct.16-Nov. 30. Please complete this pledge form today and make a difference!

You can choose to make a one-time donation or enroll in payroll deduction. Please consider pledging $5 per pay period for 26 pay periods. Or, be an even more powerful partner by making a gift of $520 or more annually out of your paycheck (20 x 26 pay periods).

Accessibility in the LMS Community of Practice
The Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) invites employees to join Accessibility in the LMS Community of Practice to discuss accessibility challenges, share experiences and explore practical ways to improve course accessibility.

• Event volunteers: 5:30-8 p.m.
• Clean-up: 8-9 p.m.

Internal Audit’s Fall Newsletter
Check out the Office of the Internal Auditor Fall 2026 Newsletter for information on Navigating Conflict of Interest (COI) and Campus Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness. The newsletter is on the Internal Audit site within the PCC Employee Intranet.

FY 2027 Staff Professional Development Fund Application Open
The application period for the Fiscal Year 2027 Staff Professional Development (SPD) Fund is open and applications are currently being reviewed.

Eligible regular full-time nonexempt and exempt staff (director level and below) may apply using the FY27 application. Faculty and adjunct faculty should contact their division for information about Faculty Professional Development funding.

To help ensure equitable access to limited funding, no more than two employees from the same department may use SPD funds to attend the same conference or training. This allows more employees across the College to benefit from professional development opportunities. Before submitting your application, discuss it with your supervisor. Your supervisor must email their approval to pcc-staffprofessionaldevelopment@pima.edu before your application can be reviewed. The FY27 application, eligibility requirements, guidelines and policies are available on the Organizational Effectiveness & Development page on MyPima, in the Employee section under Human Resources. PimaOnline Educators’ Conference 2026
Register to attend the PimaOnline Educators’ Conference 2026 (POEC26), Oct. 28-30. This year’s conference explores the theme Teaching Across the Multiverse and how higher education is changing. The event will provide opportunities to share ideas, practices and experiences related to teaching and learning. Learn more about POEC26.

Passport Day at East Campus Passport Services Office
Pima is hosting Passport Day 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 23 at the East Campus Passport Services Office. The office will be closed from noon-1 p.m.

The office will be fully staffed to assist with scheduled appointments and walk-in applications. To schedule an appointment, call 520-206-7600 or email passports@pima.edu. To save time, complete your passport application forms in advance at the U.S. Department of State passport website.

2026 Property Control Inventory: Complete by Oct. 31
The 2026 Asset Inventory process is underway and must be completed by Oct. 31.

Your inventory process is not complete until it has been submitted through the Inventory Self-Service module in Banner. Instructions are available on MyPima by searching Property Control and selecting Inventory Self Service Job Aid under Self Service Inventory.

Employees who completed the inventory process in 2025 will not need to complete another inventory until 2027. Thank you to those who have already completed or are currently completing their inventory.

Completing the inventory helps ensure the College maintains accurate asset records, meets audit requirements and complies with established policies and procedures. Failure to complete the inventory process may result in audit findings and could impact the College’s standing with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

13th Annual Veterans Day Celebration and Resource Fair
Join Pima Community College for the 13th Annual Veterans Day Celebration and Resource Fair 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 6 at Pima's Aviation Technology Center, Hangar 2. The event is free and open to the public.

Enjoy a BBQ lunch, which is free for veterans and available to others by donation. Proceeds support Pima’s Student Veterans of America chapter.

2027-2028 Sabbatical Proposals: Submit by Oct. 19
Full-time faculty members, the deadline to submit sabbatical proposals for the 2027-2028 academic year is Oct. 19. The Sabbatical Program provides eligible full-time faculty with an opportunity for extended professional development that benefits students, colleagues, the College and the community. You may apply for your first one-semester (six-month) sabbatical at full or half pay after completing five consecutive academic or fiscal years of full-time service at the College.

Media Production Extends Turnaround Times
The College’s Media Production team is currently managing a high volume of requests during a period of staffing transition. As a result, turnaround times for new projects may be longer than usual, typically three weeks or more.

The team will make every effort to accommodate time-sensitive needs; however, expedited or rush requests cannot be guaranteed at this time. To help ensure the best possible support, we encourage you to submit detailed project requests as early as possible when planning upcoming work with specific deadlines.

Pima People

Kathy Christensen, a longtime part-time instructor with ABECC, was named the Arizona Association for Lifelong Learning Educator of the Year. Her former students made up 35% of this year’s High School Equivalency graduates. Christensen also co-leads a Professional Learning Community that supports high-quality math instruction across ABECC. She has contributed significantly to curriculum development and the creation of Integrated Learning Outcomes for high-level math courses.

Hector Castillo was named the Arizona Association for Lifelong Learning 2026 ESOL/Citizenship Learner of the Year in recognition of his dedication to learning, leadership and service. While completing ABECC’s highest-level ESOL course and Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship class, Castillo achieved his goal of becoming a U.S. citizen. As a Student Senate representative and active member of the ABECC community, he continues to support and encourage fellow adult learners.

Stacy Naughton was named the College’s September Compliance Superstar by the Compliance and Ethics Office. Naughton is recognized for her commitment to ethics and clear, thoughtful guidance. She serves as an institutional compass across PCC committees, aligning projects with Administrative and Board Policies. By identifying policies early and creating clear reference materials, she helps work groups understand requirements and move projects forward. Thank you for leading with integrity, foresight and clarity.
