Pima’s annual Months of Caring, a series of special opportunities to support our community at its most basic and critical levels, are October through December. At the heart of this effort is United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona’s annual pledge drive.

In a typical year, this effort invokes Pima’s commitment to enhance the community’s economic and cultural vitality.

That commitment remains strong in 2020. But as you well know, this has not been a typical year. The past months have reinforced our faith in the resilience, kindness and ingenuity of our neighbors. They also have exposed the sad reality that so many of our neighbors are hurting in the face of unprecedented challenges. Families are wondering if they’ll keep their homes, and how they’ll feed their children.

As the county’s community college, Pima is well aware of our role in helping our community shake off the yoke of poverty, and this year we are embracing once again our opportunity to support community partners who help make a difference for our students, faculty, staff, neighbors, and in many cases, even our own families.

Over the next several days, I encourage you to watch your email for opportunities to participate. We will honor our annual Day of Caring with a special volunteer event, and we will conduct a food drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. The PCC Foundation also is accepting funds to support the eventual reopening of the College’s food pantries at the Aztec Resource Centers.

Today we kick off our annual drive to support the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. UWTSA shares our commitment to building education, improving financial stability of families and creating healthy communities.

This year, in continued recognition of our 50th Anniversary, Pima has extended our "50 for 50" campaign. Donations of $2 per pay period for 25 pay periods ($50 total during our 50th year) will go a long way to help meet the College’s $25,000 goal in support of the UWTSA’s critical services. Plus, every dollar invested in United Way’s collective impact fund creates a $5 impact.

The College offers a payroll deduction plan for your convenience. You can designate where you want your donation to go, including to the PCC Foundation. A Campaign Pledge Form is available for your use.

This year has been like no other. More than ever, together we can improve the lives of those who need our help the most.

Thank you,
Lisa Brosky
