Chancellor's Message: 2024 United Way Campaign

As I continue to learn more about Pima Community College in my new role as Chancellor, I am pleased and honored to be part of PCC's long-standing support for the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (UWTSA) as part of our commitment to a Culture of Caring. By partnering with UWTSA, we are joining in their mission to strengthen education, enhance financial stability and promote health for families across Tucson.

As we embark on this year's campaign, I am excited about the opportunities ahead. A key feature of our initiative is the Months of Caring, which starts now and will conclude on Nov. 30. I warmly invite each of you to participate in Pima’s United Way Campaign Kick-off on Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the District Office Fountain Area. There will be food, entertainment, and giveaways to enjoy. To join us, we simply ask for a pledge of at least $1 per pay period (or $26 for the year) through payroll deduction by Oct. 31.

Additionally, we have a special opportunity to make an impact through volunteerism. PCC employees can take part in the 2024 Pima’s Day of Caring on Oct. 31 by coloring bookmarks to support United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona’s My Summer Library Program. The bookmarks will be given to students attending the program in April and May. The activity will be held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., in the lunchroom in Building C at District Office. Please, complete this Google Form by Oct. 21 to participate. (Note: You must be logged in to MyPima to complete the form.) Volunteers will be entered in a $50 Amazon Gift card drawing and be eligible to receive 1-2 Healthy Rewards points.

For those interested in donating, PCC makes it easy through payroll deduction, and you can choose exactly where your contributions go, including the Pima Foundation, which supports our college and provides scholarships for our students. A Campaign Pledge Form is available. If you are donating for the first time, thank you for joining in support of Tucson’s diverse communities. If you are a returning donor, your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

In these challenging times, we have the power to lift each other up. Together, through our collective efforts, we can bring hope and help to those who need it most.

With gratitude,

Jeffrey P. Nasse, Ph.D.
Chancellor
