Veterinary Practice Assistant Certificate

This program is currently inactivated and is in teachout. Teachout for this program will conclude at the end of the Summer 2022 term.

If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Program Director Dr. Karla Lombana at klombana@pima.edu. Interested students are encouraged to pursue VET 100 as an introductory course as the certificate is no longer available.

For students currently in the program, the requirements are listed below.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Veterinary Practice Assistant certificate program, the learner will be able to:

  1. Introductory level hands on nursing skills for veterinary care.
  2. Animal science applications for veterinary care.
  3. Introductory microbiology and cytology skills for veterinary care.
  4. Concepts of the regulatory environment in veterinary health care.
  5. Entry level medical communication skills for veterinary medicine.
