International Students - How to Apply

As an international student, you have to meet certain requirements in order to study at Pima Community College as a full-time, F-1 student.

Follow these steps and we'll get you on your way to a rewarding academic experience.

  • Step 1: Apply

    Fill out and sign an Application for Admission for International Students.

       Application deadlines:
          Fall Semester - June 1
          Spring Semester - October 1
          Summer Semester - April 1

    Please note: University of Arizona International Students may take classes at Pima Community College that count toward their University of Arizona degree.  To do so, students must be enrolled full-time at the UA and follow the UA approval process for Concurrent Enrollment.

    To request approval, submit the Concurrent Enrollment Form to the UA International Student Services (ISS) Office. Sponsored students must meet with Marie Willard to determine eligibility.

  • Step 2: Provide Proof of Financial Support

    Fill out the Affidavit of Support form. The affidavit must be verified with a bank seal or submitted with an official bank statement.

    In the Affidavit of Support, the student must show that the student or a sponsor has the available funds for the length of study selected.

  • Step 3: Submit Proof of English Proficiency

    Proof of English proficiency is only required for students interested in an Academic/Degree-Seeking program.

    ESL students will take a placement/assessment exam on campus.

    Below you will find various exams and scores that we will consider for admission:

    1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report with a minimum score of: 61 ibt, 173 cbt or 500 pbt.
    2. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Overall Band Score of 5.5 or better with a minimum individual score of 5.0 in EACH component (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).
    3. Academic International Test of English Proficiency (Academic iTEP) score of 3.5 or better.
    4. Pearson Test of English (PTE) General Score of Level 2 or a PTE Academic Score of 43 or better.
    5. General Test of English Communication (GTEC) Score of 1050 or better.
    6. Certificate of Endorsement indicating successful program completion at the American Institute of Language and Culture at Pima Community College.
    7. Certificate of Endorsement indicating successful program completion at the Center for English as a Second Language at the University of Arizona.
    8. Successful completion of the English course in the Cambridge General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O Level or higher with a grade of C or better.
    9. Official transcripts indicating completion of College Reading AND English Composition 100, OR English Composition 101 OR English Composition 107 (or their equivalents) at a regionally accredited institution and earning a grade of C or better.
    10. Official high school transcripts indicating completion of regular English classes at an accredited American or International Baccalaureate (IB) high school (domestic and/or abroad) with a grade of C or better.
    11. Applying from an English-speaking country or a school that uses English as the language of instruction as determined by official transcripts. 
    12. Applicants who do not meet the English language proficiency requirements may be admitted to the American Institute of Language and Culture at PCC. Students may take PCC’s placement/assessment exams in Reading and Writing to determine eligibility for admission to an Academic Program prior to enrolling in ESL courses.
  • Step 4: Provide Transcripts

    Send official secondary school (American high school equivalent) records and transcripts, properly translated into English.

  • Step 5: Provide Copy of Passport

    Provide a copy of your current passport.
