Digital Accessibility

Pima Community College is committed to ensuring its websites and web-based applications (apps), and digital content are accessible to all users. All College employees who contribute to the College’s digital environment share the responsibility for compliance.

The Required Standard: WCAG 2.1, Level AA

Pima Community College uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as its official web content accessibility standard. This standard ensures compliance with both federal and state law, as well as the College’s Web Accessibility Standard. This standard must be met by College employees and contractors when posting digital content on behalf of the College and on all platforms used by the College to provide content accessible to students, employees, or members of the public.

New Federal Requirement:
In 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) adopted WCAG 2.1, Level AA as the mandatory standard for all state and local government entities, including Arizona community colleges like Pima Community College.

Effective Date:
While the DOJ regulations take effect on April 24, 2026, this standard is not new to Pima Community College. Employees should strive for compliance immediately.
