Hiring PCC Students

Pima Community College recognizes that experiences beyond the classroom provide our students opportunities to enrich their professional and personal growth, and provides employers with increased opportunities to engage directly with our students. Our goal is to provide a link between the community and Pima students, supporting the overall economic health and growth for our region.

In today’s tight labor market our students find employment even before graduation. We recommend employers engage with students early so students become familiar with the company making them more likely to choose you as their full-time employer.

On-campus recruitment is a great way to connect employers with our students. We offer employers the opportunity to recruit students by participating in hiring events.

An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships are short term and typically a semester or less in duration.

Apprenticeship is an employer-driven, “learn-while-you-earn” model that combines on-the-job training, provided by the employer that hires the apprentice, with job-related instruction in curricula tied to the attainment of national skills standards. The model also involves progressive increases in an apprentice’s skills and wages.

Apprenticeship is a flexible training strategy that can be customized to meet the needs of any business. Apprentices can be new hires such as Pima Community College students, or businesses can select current employees who need skill upgrades to join the apprenticeship program.
