Dig into the past by studying archaeological fieldwork! If you are seeking professional skills or want to pursue an archaeology degree, our Field Archaeology Certificate is for you. You’ll study in a program with a more than 40-year history of award-winning and nationally recognized work. You’ll do much of your work in the Pima Community College Centre for Archaeological Field Training.

You’ll get hands-on training in both basic and advanced field techniques, with an emphasis on preservation and conservation of resources, particularly related to the prehistory of southern Arizona.

By the time you complete the training, you will be prepared to work successfully as a field archaeology technician. Pima field archaeology graduates have an excellent reputation in the archaeological community and find employment both close to home and around the country.

Geospatial Information Studies and Technology Courses

Field Archaeology Certificate students are encouraged to take our Geospatial Information Studies and Technology courses. In our GIS classes, you learn how to used powerful tools to collect, organize and present geographic data. GIS is therefore useful in any field that needs to use geographic information, including many sciences, social sciences, urban planning, and business.
