Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC)

Arizona General Education Curriculum meet lower division general education requirements for UA, NAU, ASU and other institutions, as well as the general education requirements for Pima's transfer degrees. Students may pursue a pathway meeting arts (AGEC-A), business (AGEC-B) or science (AGEC-S) general education requirements. The AGEC-A and AGEC-B certificates can be completed entirely online.

Pima strongly recommends that students pursuing an AGEC, before transferring, also complete the corresponding Associate of Arts, Associate of Fine Arts, Associate of Business Administration or Associate of Science degree.

Students working toward a transfer degree, should be aware that specific degrees may require core or support courses that already fulfill some or all of their AGEC requirements. Always use your specific degree web page to identify the courses required to earn your degree.

The AGECs have the same categories, but may have specific courses required to fulfill those categories. These requirements apply to Pima’s transfer degrees and certificates such as the Associate of Arts, Associate of Business Administration, Associate of Fine Arts, Associate of Science and Honors certificate.

“One lesson that Tucson has taught me . . . is that in the middle of chaos, trials and death, life has a way of working itself out through education.”
