Experience the Pima Community College Fall Music Showcase, Oct. 18
Tucson, AZ - The Pima Community College Music Department proudly presents its Fall Music Showcase 12:30 - 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18. This free event invites audiences to enjoy an afternoon of diverse and captivating performances by Pima’s talented ensembles.
Experience everything from the rich harmonies of Chorale & College Singers to the dynamic rhythms of Concert Band, Guitar Ensemble, Mariachi Ensemble, Orchestra and Musical Theatre, in an afternoon you won’t want to miss.

- Pima Chorale & College Singers, Recital Hall, 2 p.m.
- Pima Guitar Ensemble, Recital Hall, 2:45 p.m.
- Pima Mariachi Ensemble, Proscenium Theatre, 3:30 p.m.
Directed by Chris Will and Anne Grimes, D.M.A, the Musical Theatre Workshop brings the energy and charm of the classic Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls” to the Recital Hall. Performed by Pima students, the showcase features memorable songs from the beloved production.
Under the direction of Victor Valenzuela, the Pima Concert Band will present a salute and celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. Come celebrate our country with pride and enjoy the bold sounds of the Pima Band program.
Directed by Anne Grimes, D.M.A., the Pima Orchestra presents an eclectic program spanning classical masterworks, jazz influences and beloved music from stage and screen. The concert features works by François Couperin and Aram Khachaturian, music by Duke Ellington and a selection from Disney's “The Lion King.”
Under the direction of Jonathan Ng, D.M.A., Pima Chorale & College Singers present a rich program of timeless folk songs, contemporary choral works and beloved classics. Highlights include “The Lonesome Dove” by Michael Larkin; “My Sweethearts Like Venus” by Gustav Holst; “Ei, du Lütte” (O, you little one) by Arnold Schoenberg; “Shadow River” by Elaine Hagenberg; “Rain Come Down” by Shawn Kirchner; “Shenandoah” by Michale J. Trotta; and “Festival Sanctus” by John Leavitt. Together, these works create a heartfelt celebration of love, resilience and the unifying power of song.
Led by Michael Lich, Pima Guitar Ensemble will perform an eclectic mix of new compositions and arrangements for guitar orchestra as well as smaller ensembles. The program will feature colorful and exciting pieces by Luc Lévesque (Vue du Ciel), Vito Nicolo Paradiso (Minimalismi Indù), Alan Shoesmith (Challenging the Oracle) and Sahasra Chakkirala (Death of a Star).
Led by Salvador Gallegos, Pima Mariachi Ensemble, Mariachi Azteca de Pima College, will perform traditional and contemporary mariachi compositions representative of the folkloric Mexican music art form.
