Pima Community College Starts Fall Semester with Strong Enrollment

TUCSON, AZ – Pima Community College’s fall first-day enrollment is up over 2.20% compared to the first day of fall classes last year, continuing an upward enrollment trend at PCC for the last five Fall Semesters. Classes started today, August 24, 2026.

First-day fall credit enrollment, which measures the number of courses students take, was 59,635, up 2.20% from last fall. Fall unduplicated headcount, the number of students taking classes, was 19,447, up 1.34% from last fall.

“Pima is about quality and value. Every student who chooses Pima is making an investment in their future, and we take seriously our responsibility to make that investment count,” said Chancellor Dr. Jeffrey P. Nasse. “As we begin a new academic year, our focus is on providing students with a high-quality education, the skills employers need, and the support to reach their goals. Whether they are preparing for a career, advancing in the workforce or transferring to a university, we want every student to leave Pima better prepared for what comes next. When our students succeed, our families, employers and our entire Southern Arizona community are stronger.”

First-day enrollment numbers don’t reflect increasing enrollment in dual enrollment students, where students take classes in their high schools for PCC credit. Last year, 6,616 high school students enrolled in PCC’s dual enrollment classes. Which is close to a 25% increase in dual enrollment students from the year before.

While the traditional 16-week fall semester begins this week, students can still register for 14-week classes until September 8, 2026. Registration for 8-week classes is open until October 19, 2026.
