Pima’s student-only art, literary journal again tops in U.S.

Tucson, AZ – For the fifth consecutive year, Pima’s student-produced SandScript Art and Literary Journal was awarded Best Magazine in the country by the Community College Humanities Association.

In addition, Taylor M. Johnson, won the Creative Nonfiction Southwestern Division award for “Killing Elvis”. Only one winner is awarded per division.

 Other Pima student contributors honored for written works in the issue:

  • Lynn Finger, “Dialogue with Orlando White” – Poems: Southwestern Division, Third Place
  • Jim Freeh, “Perfida in Four Acts” – Short Stories: Southwestern Division, Second Place
  • Owen Lewis, “Webs” – Short Stories: Southwestern Division, Third Place

Sasha Feliciano was student-editor for the 2019 SandScript, Maggie Golston the faculty advisor.

Pima also won first place in the Magazines from Large Colleges: Southwestern Division.

 Pima student writers and visual artists may submit works for the 2020 edition, for summer and fall through Dec. 1, and for spring semester, Jan. 1-March 1. Send submissions to sandscript@pima.edu or through its Facebook page, @sandscriptmag. Students interested in producing the journal can register for WRT 162 for the Spring 2020 Semester. Registration opens Nov. 11.
