Five PCC CTD Surgical Technologists finish training

Tucson, AZ – On Thursday, five Pima students will be honored for completing the Center for Training and Development’s Surgical Technologist training.

Pima’s program is highly regarded, and has had cohorts exceed a 90% pass rate on the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified Surgical Technologist examination. Leann Williams is the CTD Surgical Technologist Program Director.

The field of Surgical Technologist has a projected 35.4 percent job growth in Arizona and 11.7 percent nationwide from 2016 to 2026. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for a surgical technologist in the Tucson metro area is $49,590, which is higher than the national average of $48,060.

CTD has two surgical technologist cohorts complete training annually. Each student must complete 1,326 “clock-hours” of training over the 52-week program.

CTD offers certificate programs based on hours of successfully completed skills training rather than credits. It is based at Pima’s Desert Vista Campus, 5901 S. Calle Santa Cruz. Other healthcare trainings are Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician and Practical Nurse.
