PCC Adopts Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget

June 14, 2019

Tucson, AZ  -- The Pima County Community College District Governing Board voted June 12, 2019 to approve the College’s fiscal year 2019-2020 budget of $317.2 million, an increase of $16.6 million over the 2018-2019 budget of $300.6 million.

The Board’s adoption June 12 of a primary tax levy change will increase the primary tax rate from the levy-neutral rate of $1.3488 to a rate of $1.3758 per $100 of assessed valuation. The College’s primary property tax levy will result in a $2.70 increase to the annual tax bill for a residential home with a full cash value of $100,000. The College’s primary property tax rate continues to be well below the average of its peers.

The 2019-2020 budget meets College priorities to fund capital projects to upgrade classroom technology, as well as proposals to revitalize enrollment. The budget also includes $65.0 million in funds from revenue bonds as the initial investment in the Educational and Facilities Master Plans, which will provide premier educational facilities to prepare Pima students for future success at the Downtown Campus Center of Excellence for Applied Technology. Finally, the College budget also reflects a $15.0 million, one-time appropriation from the State of Arizona to expand the student capacity of the Aviation Technology Center.

A presentation made to the Governing Board on Truth in Taxation and Adoption of Fiscal Year 2020 Proposed Budget is available on the College’s website.
