PCC to Host Tucson Street Rod Association Car Show

April 17, 2019

Tucson, AZ – Warm sunshine and sweet vintage rides … is there a better way to spend a Saturday in Tucson?

On April 27, Pima Community College’s Downtown Campus is hosting the Tucson Street Rod

Association’s (TSRA) 45th Annual Rodders Days Car Show. The event, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., is free and open to the public. It is expected to draw at least 200 exhibitors with beautiful, pre-1987 hot-rods, trucks, muscle cars, rods and customs, vintage race cars and special interest vehicles and antique power equipment of the past. There will be food vendors (Burgerrito, Jozarelli’s and Wilson’s Kettle Corn) and sponsor / vendor / exhibitors.

The campus is at the corner of Speedway and Stone, 1255 N. Stone Ave. Tours of the Science & Technology facilities and Automotive Technology Training Center will be conducted at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon.

“This is a great opportunity not only to check out some fabulous cars but also to see what Pima has to offer for people interested in a career as a skilled automotive technician, or in another area of Applied Technology such as Welding, Industrial Technology or Machine Tool Technology” said Greg Wilson, PCC Dean of Applied Technology. “All of our Applied Technology programs offer hands-on experience.”

Gary Scheer, vice president of TSRA, said “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Pima this year and into the future. As auto enthusiasts, we know there is a need for more skilled technicians in the community, and we hope this event will draw attention to PCC’s outstanding facilities and programs.”

TSRA and Pima have the shared goal of graduating more students in the applied technologies to work in Tucson industries.
