Chancellor's Update: Vaccines Update, Jan. 20, 2021
Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to provide a quick update to what we know about the COVID-19 vaccination process.
The Pima County Health Department continues to make changes to increase efficiencies. One of those changes is to the registration portal. All colleges and universities have been asked to use this link. It can be found on this page with additional information. Users are instructed to:
- Fill out the Pima County Vaccine Interest Form and hit send.
- Wait for an email response from TMC MyChart, which will send a confirmation email with a link to schedule an appointment and complete the registration process.
- Click on the link from MyChart to schedule an appointment.
This will get you in the queue. Due to limited doses of the vaccine and shortages of qualified staff to administer it, the County is prioritizing registrations based on a number of factors, including age and any priority lists they requested from various organizations.
The College was asked by both the State and Pima County to submit names of “essential employees.” While that list includes about 1,200 individuals who are currently on campus to teach or support students and maintain facilities and safety operations, the College has more than 3,000 employees, including adjunct faculty, all of who are in the 1B category and can register now.
There are more than 300,000 people in Pima County in the 1B category and the county currently is receiving about 12,000 doses of the vaccines a week.
We know many of you were able to register and get an appointment through a link provided by Banner Healthcare. We are unclear as to how or whether those appointments will be honored, given the County’s focus on serving elderly populations first. You should follow any instructions you receive from Banner.
When you are able to get an appointment, you will be asked to prove that you are a College employee. You may use your Pima ID or a pay stub or W2. If you have not received a Pima ID, you can submit a request through the Famis 360 (Facilities Work Requests) on the Intranet, along with a passport quality photo. You will make an appointment to pick up your ID at Maintenance & Security.
At this point, the best place for general questions about the vaccine is the Pima County vaccine hotline: 520-222-0119 that is staffed Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Learn more about Pima County’s vaccination plan. To find vaccination clinics elsewhere in Arizona visit the Arizona Department of Health Services.
We understand this process is both confusing and frustrating. We will continue to keep you informed as best we can. The pandemic has tested our patience, but if we can remain patient we can work through this process.
