PCC Prep Academy
Need a little help getting ready for college-level course work? Explore the many resources available to you through Pima Community College’s Prep Academy. PCC Prep Academy is a noncredit, self-paced and flexible program that lets you focus on the areas where you need additional help.
Who can participate?
If you are a new student who needs additional learning in math, reading, or writing based on your assessment scores, then you are eligible to join the Prep Academy.
What is covered?
Reading: Development of fundamental reading skills, including comprehension, recall of important information in a textbook, and use of strategies such as read, recite and review.
Writing: Basic grammar, including parts of speech, spelling and mechanics, style and tone, research, and writing skills.
Mathematics: Learn the basic building blocks, including place value and operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, proportions and measurements.
Time commitment
In Prep Academy, you sign up only for the amount of time you need to gain valuable skills for future coursework: 4 weeks, 10 weeks or 6 months. A Student Services Center advisor or Prep Academy instructor can help you decide which plan best meets your needs.
You can start today; you do not need to wait for the beginning of a semester to launch your studies. Work at home or on campus – on your schedule.
Program features
You receive 24/7 access to Prep Academy software. The software delivers learning modules based on your assessment scores; you do not revisit what you already know.
Classroom instruction also is available to support your online learning and to cover special topics, such as study skills, overcoming test anxiety and time management. There are also on-site labs with tutors and/or instructors available if needed.
