What can I do with this degree?

Career Options:  Take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN®) to be eligible to work as a licensed practical nurse.

Academic Options:  Take courses to qualify as a registered nurse.

Program Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be fulfilled (with grades posted) before students may begin the Program Application process. Time limits and higher minimum grades apply for some courses.*

Compass reading score of 95 or higher
MAT 122  Intermediate Algebra  OR 
math assessment score into MAT 151 or higher
CHM 130/130LB/130IN*  Fundamental Chemistry [SUN# CHM 1130]
OR  chemistry assessment score of 34 or higher
BIO 201IN*  Human Anatomy and Physiology I [SUN# BIO 2201],
and complete the BIO 156IN prerequisite as needed

* CHM 130/130LB/130IN must have been completed with a grade of C or better within the last six (6) years.  BIO 201IN and 202IN must have been completed with a combined average grade of B or better within the last six (6) years.  For BIO 201IN/202IN, the average grades may be met with a grade of C in one course and a grade of A in the other.  HCA 102 requires a grade of "A".

** General education requirements are fulfilled by required core and support courses: Communication - WRT 101; Analysis and Critical Thinking -MAT 122 (or assessment) and BIO 201IN.

*** NRS 201/201LC requires a minimum enrollment.  If this minimum enrollment is not met, students are eligible for the Practical Nursing Certificate after completion of NRS 201 (Nursing Process III).
