PCC Class to Donate Funds to Help Feed Schoolchildren, June 4 and June 8

June 3, 2014

Tucson, AZ – Members of a Pima Community College Social Services class will visit Bloom Elementary School, 8310 E. Pima St., at 10 a.m. June 4 to present a check for $1,149 to provide groceries for low-income children attending the school during the 2014-15 school year.

A PCC’s Community Organization and Development class taught at the West Campus raised the money in May to benefit the Blessings in a Backpack program, a nationwide effort to provide food for needy elementary school children.

The class also will make a $4,200 donation on June 8 at 10 a.m. to the New Spirit Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail, to expand the Blessings in a Backpack program at Steele, Erickson and Ford elementary schools.
