PCC Hosts Candlelight Pinning Ceremony May 7

May 7, 2014

Event at Tucson Convention Center recognizes 73 West Campus nursing students

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College hosts a Candlelight Pinning Ceremony this afternoon for 73 future nurses.

The ceremony recognizes the accomplishments of men and women who have completed coursework in PCC’s Nursing Department.

Scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center, the pinning ceremony is a rite of passage that stretches back more than 150 years to the Nightingale School of Nursing in London. The school's founder, Florence Nightingale, honored her graduating students with a pin as a symbol of excellence. This afternoon’s ceremony includes a candle-lighting and recitation of the Nightingale Pledge.

Participants will be welcomed by Dr. Lou Albert, president of PCC’s West Campus.
