PCC Students to Hold “No Fashion – Fashion Show” Contest on Nov. 22

November 4, 2013

Tucson, AZ – Create a wearable outfit out of ribbons, macaroni and aluminum foil in just two hours?

That’s the challenge posed in an innovative contest  – with great prizes –  to be held later this month at Pima Community College’s Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave.  A student club, Fashion Force – The force of good, is sponsoring the “No Fashion – Fashion Show” on Nov. 22. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to further the mission of the club.

The event is a contest open to local high school students, who will be given a box of various items to create a garment. The challenge is to create a look with these items. The look will be modeled on a runway, and the garments rated by a panel of judges from the local fashion industry. Cost to enter is $7 per student or $20 per group of no more than four students. The event will be held in the Amethyst Room, with preparations beginning at 3 p.m. and the show at 6:30 p.m.

The prizes include a $500 scholarship to Pima, a new Singer sewing machine and gift cards.

The club is seeking donations of pipe cleaners, aluminum foil, sewing kits, scissors and glue for the event. If you have any questions, are interested in making a donation, or want to register an individual or a team, email or phone Charlette Padilla,, 206-7206.
