October 24, 2013

Tucson, AZ – Sheila Ortego, a former president of Santa Fe Community College in New Mexico, has been named Interim President of Pima Community College’s Community Campus.

“Sheila has proven herself to be a capable, innovative leader at the highest level of community college governance,” Chancellor Lee D. Lambert says. “She will be a valuable addition to the College as we move forward.”

Ms. Ortego served as president of Santa Fe Community College from 2006-2012. In 2011, she was named a top-performing CEO by an Albuquerque business magazine.

Ms. Ortego earned her doctoral and master’s degrees in American Studies from the University of New Mexico. [Her résumé is attached.]

Her first day at PCC will be Oct. 28.

Community Campus is one of six PCC campuses in the Tucson area. It is known as the College’s “virtual and distance campus” because of its oversight of online courses. Pima’s many non-credit course offerings also are based there.
