Interim Chancellor: “We can successfully restore trust in the College.”

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College has been placed on probation by its accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission.

Interim Chancellor Zelema Harris informed PCC employees of the change in the College’s status in a message earlier today. “The HLC reaccredited PCC for 10 years in 2010, and I believe that we can successfully restore the HLC’s and the public’s trust in the College.” (Read Dr. Harris’ message on the Interim Chancellor’s page.)

Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Dr. Jerry Migler has notified students that PCC has been placed on probation.

In an email and announcement on the College’s Intranet, Dr. Migler noted that while PCC is on probation, course transfer from PCC will not be affected, and the College still will be able to offer students financial aid. “The quality of our instruction and programs is undiminished,” Dr. Migler wrote.
