PCC to Interview Candidates for Interim Chancellor

March 28, 2013

Interviews during Board’s executive session to follow Special Meeting to discuss suspension of placement, registration standards

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College Governing Board has requested and received names of qualified candidates for Interim Chancellor from the Association of Community College Trustees.

The candidates, all of whom are from outside PCC, will be interviewed by the Board during an executive session on Friday, March 29.

Representatives of PCC’s Faculty Senate, Staff Council, the Pima Community College Education Association, Association of Classified Exempt Staff and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees also will have an opportunity to question the candidates.

The representatives will share their assessments of the candidates with the Board immediately after the interviews. The Board will announce its choice next week.

The Board’s selection will replace current Interim Chancellor Dr. Suzanne Miles, who announced earlier this month that she is stepping down April 12 to return to her position as President of Community Campus.

Before the executive session, the Board will hold a Special Meeting in the Community Board Room of PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway, beginning at 5 p.m.

At the Special Meeting, the Board will discuss and take action on a recommendation by Dr. Miles and Dr. Jerry Migler, PCC Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, to suspend provisions requiring minimum achievement levels on College assessment examinations. After the Special Meeting, the Board will adjourn into executive session.
