Frequency of Evaluation
PCC evaluates all components of SAP at the end of each semester (or payment period for students who are enrolled in a clock hour program) after grades have been submitted. If all of the student’s grades have not been submitted it may not be possible to calculate the student’s SAP status. If it is not possible to calculate the student’s SAP status the student may not be certified for subsequent terms/hours until such time as all of the grades have been submitted and it is possible to calculate the student’s SAP status. Students who fail to meet the College’s academic progress policy are reviewed at any time during the academic year for eligibility of benefits if they appeal* their academic suspension and are permitted to return to the College.
Students who receive any type of Veteran Educational Benefits are evaluated for SAP at the end of each semester (or payment period for students who are enrolled in a clock hour program. VBR students requesting an LOA will receive a withdrawal effective the last date of attendance. This could potentially create a debt with the VA unless documentation of mitigating circumstances are submitted to their Veteran Advisor or directly to the VA in an attempt to avoid a debt).
Transfer students and those who are returning to the College after a hiatus are evaluated upon entry (or reentry), whether or not that point in time is at the end of a semester. VBR’s who are found not to be in satisfactory academic standing, will be notified via email to their Pima address. Students can also check their eligibility status by logging into their My Pima student portal’s Veteran’s Tab.
When a change of grade is submitted subsequent to the SAP evaluation, PCC will recalculate the student’s SAP status using that new information.
