College Updates

Use of Google Sites Discouraged; Follow These Guidelines
The College realizes that Google Sites are becoming popular and wants employees to be aware of their appropriate use. In general, due to such things as ADA accessibility requirements, College information should be on the public-facing website pima.edu or the College Intranet. Here are the guidelines:

  • If the information you want to present is for the public, marketing or enrollment, then it should be on edu. Contact Web Systems for assistance, websystems@pima.edu;
  • If the information you want to present is only for all students or all the faculty or all staff, then it should be on either MyPima (students) or the College’s Intranet site (employees);
  • If the information you want to present is only for a specific small group or internal audience, then it is OK to have a Google Site, but the site should be kept behind the MyPima login screen.

If you have questions, contact Web Systems, websystems@pima.edu or submit a Web Systems service request in MyPima > Employees > @Work > Quick Links > Service Requests > IT Service Requests > Web Systems.

Procedure Updates for Review
The following item is available for the 21-day review and comment at pima.edu/about-pima/leadership-policies/policies/drafts:

Draft Administrative Procedures:

AP 2.11.01: Human Subjects — REVISED

Support Pima in the Data and Analytics Professional Award Vote
There is news from the office of Strategy, Analytics and Research (STAR). It concerns Vice Chancellor Nic Richmond but reflects the work of everyone at STAR. She is one of 100 finalists for Data and Analytics Professional of the Year, awarded by OnConferences.

Nominees come from financial services, telecommunications, media, education, transportation and other sectors of the economy.

Voters can select those finalists whom they have observed do one or more of the following:

  • Make a considerable impact on their organization and/or previous organizations
  • Make strong contributions to the data and analytics community through thought leadership
  • Innovate in their role/career
  • Exhibit exceptional leadership

Voting will take place online, where you also can see the complete list of finalists. The deadline to vote is April 1.

Please consider voting to support Nic Richmond and the STAR team!

IT Systems Status Notifications
The College is using a new service, StatusCast, to communicate downtime and scheduled maintenance. StatusCast includes:

  • IT Status Page, pima.edu, to check the status of the College’s IT systems
  • Subscription-based email notification. Visit the Status Page and subscribe to email notifications. Notifications come from Pima Community College, noreply@statuscast.com, or StatusCast, noreply@statuscast.com, and are flagged “External” though they are legitimate.

Google’s New Feature: Search Chips
Recently, Google released a new feature in Google Drive – a filter called “search chips.” The feature lets you break your search results down into people, file type, location, date of modification, shared label and tasks. These options come in the form of an additional suite of small drop-down menus nested below the scratch bar in Google Drive.

Accounting for Controlled Property and Capital Assets
Now through April 30, custodians and equipment managers are conducting physical inventory of capital and controllable equipment for the College’s Property Control Office. If you have questions, email pcc-propertycontrol@pima.edu or contact Chris Cameron, 520-206-2651, Stacey O’Campo, 520-206-2651 or Charlie McConnell, 520-206-2758.

In-person Graduation Ceremony at Kino Stadium May 18
For 2022, the College is planning its first in-person graduation ceremony since 2019 and its first-ever outdoor ceremony.

Join us at 7 p.m. May 18, at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium.

As details become available, they will be posted on pima.edu/graduationceremony.

Community College Survey of Student Engagement
The Office of Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) currently is administering the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE). Since 2011, the College has administered CCSSE every three to four years and is seeking input from College employees to learn how student feedback from previous years has been used to initiate meaningful changes to improve the student experience and outcomes. Have previous results changed your opinions or how you interact with or teach students? Have you gleaned any insights, altered behaviors or taken actions from past responses? Are you aware of any College practices or policies that were altered? Please send your comments and examples to pcc-feedback@pima.edu. If you have questions, email pcc-feedback@pima.edu.

Submit a Pima Story Idea
Submit a story idea to highlight the amazing accomplishments of Pima students, faculty, staff and alumni. Stories submitted may be featured on Pima’s website, social media accounts and other promotional materials. If you have questions, contact Web Systems, websystems@pima.edu.

Pima Shared Governance through AERC

Pima Employment Opportunities for Internal Candidates
The College values its employees and wants them to advance their careers here. That is why some positions are open only to internal candidates.
