College Updates

Use of Google Sites Discouraged; Follow These Guidelines
The College realizes that Google Sites are becoming popular and wants employees to be aware of their appropriate use. In general, due to such things as ADA accessibility requirements, information should be on the public-facing website pima.edu or the College Intranet. Here are the guidelines:

  • If the information you want to present is for the public, marketing or enrollment, then it should be on pima.edu. Contact Web Systems for assistance, websystems@pima.edu.
  • If the information you want to present is only for all students or all the faculty or all the staff, then it should be on either MyPima (students) or the College’s Intranet site (employees);
  • If the information you want to present is only for a specific small group or internal audience, then it is OK to have a Google Site, but the site should be kept behind the MyPima login screen.

If you have questions, contact Web Systems, websystems@pima.edu or submit a Web Systems request at Web Systems service request in MyPima > Employees > @Work > Quick Links > Service Requests > IT Service Requests > Web Systems.

Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE) Really, Really Needs Your Help
The College is nearing the end of the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE) administration period and the response rate still is under 10%. Students were asked to participate if they meet the following criteria: are new to the College; are not a high school student; are 18 or older and/or are enrolled in a credit course this fall. SENSE results help Pima better understand the experience of students entering the College.

While class time is not necessary for this online survey, we need your help for this to be successful.

How you can help:

  • Encourage and remind eligible students to participate.
  • Explain the value of submitting their responses.
  • Let students know that, if they meet the criteria above, they may have received an email from pcc-feedback@pima.edu inviting them to participate in SENSE. Ask eligible students to check their Pima email, or please share the link https://www.cccse.org/SENSESurvey/pima. A prompt will ask them to provide their username (their email address before the @). Please note that if they do not meet the criteria and are not in the survey population, they will receive an error message if they try to enter the survey.

Results from the three previous Center for Student Engagement Surveys (SENSE, CCSSE and CCFSSE) are at Student Engagement Surveys. Frequently Asked Questions also are available. If you have more questions, email the Office of Strategy, Analytics and Research (STAR), pcc-feedback@pima.edu.

Clarification to Sabbatical Proposal for Full-time Faculty; Deadline Oct. 18
Pima and the Faculty Professional Development and Sabbatical Committee welcomes Sabbatical Proposals from full-time faculty for fall 2022 and spring 2023. The deadline to submit a complete proposal is Oct. 18.

NOTE: Recently, administration has requested that faculty seeking a sabbatical explain the connection of their proposal to retention and or enrollment as part of the section that addresses the value to the college. This is not a change to sabbatical proposal criteria, rather a definition or clarification to support the established criteria of how sabbatical activities “Provide(s) a clear and specific description of the value to the College.”

Complete information, along with a list of committee members, can be found at My Pima > Employees > Intranet Guide > Academic Resources > Faculty Professional Development > Faculty Sabbaticals.
