College Updates

College Changes Sept. 11 Terror Attacks Commemoration
The College has changed how it will mark the 20th Anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, switching to a recorded commemoration to be shared with the Pima community that morning.

Sept. 10, everyone will receive an email with details.

UnTeaching & UnLearning Summit Sept. 8-10 Open to All
Together with the Faculty Senate Systemic Justice Action Committee, the Teaching and Learning Center is finalizing details for the virtual all-College UnTeaching & UnLearning Summit Sept. 8-10. The summit is open to the entire College – students, faculty, staff and administration – with the goal of bringing people together to listen, share, collaborate, heal, feel, think, process, understand and work to solve problems. You can stay in the know by filling out this short interest form.

Submit Employee, Student Stories for Web, Social Media
The College now has a form for you to submit a story to be featured on Pima’s website, social media accounts and other promotional materials. Story submissions should highlight students, faculty, staff, programs and/or community partnerships and promote the mission of the College. If you have questions, contact Aly Higgins, ahiggins9@pima.edu.

EECS Doing Demos for Faculty and Staff
Through Sept. 7, the Employer Engagement and Career Services department is offering demonstrations for faculty and staff of its MyCareerLink student and alum job board, and Big Interview, an online resource to help students prepare for job interviews and be career-ready.

Schedule a demo time using this form.

Full-Time Faculty Sabbatical Proposals Due Oct. 18
The Faculty Professional Development and Sabbatical Committee has set the proposal window for fall 2022 and spring 2023. The deadline to submit a complete proposal is Oct. 18. You can find complete information, along with a list of committee members, at My Pima > Employees > Intranet Guide > Academic Resources > Faculty Professional Development > Faculty Sabbaticals.

Travel Manual Revisions: Local Mileage Reimbursements
Due to a change in employee deployment practices, the College has updated its local mileage reimbursement policies as defined in the College’s Travel Manual.

A complete summary of revisions is online at Summary of Revisions to the College Travel Manual.

The complete and current Travel Manual is on the College Intranet under Finance & Administration/Travel & Expense Management.

If you have any questions or would like to have a meeting or training session on any College travel policies or practices, contact Travel Services, pcc-travel@pima.edu.

Library Launches More User-friendly Database Interface
The College Library has a new database interface, the A-Z Databases. It is a more powerful, user-friendly interface that allows you to browse, sort and search all of the databases. To learn more, go to the Library Tab in MyPima, then, under “Articles & Databases,” select “Databases by subject or title.”

Work Study Supervisor Training Through October
The College’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship is offering Work Study Supervisor Training through October. If you are a student employee supervisor and would like a refresher, or are considering becoming a student employee supervisor, you may register for a session in MyCareerCenter:

If you have questions or need assistance, email Organizational Effectiveness and Development, opd@pima.edu. To request a reasonable accommodation to participate in training, email ada-esc@pima.edu or call 520-206-4945.

Pima Employment Opportunities for Internal Candidates
The College values its employees and wants them to advance their careers here. That is why some positions are open only to internal candidates. To view, go to MyPima > Employees > @Work > MyCareerCenter > View Internal Internal Career Site > Search. Part-time staff and adjunct faculty, refer to AP 2.02.01 sections 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 for eligibility.
