A Note to @PimaNews Readers
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, until further notice, @PimaNews will focus on recent COVID-19-related policy and procedure changes most affecting employees. These will be revised and updated as the situation warrants.

College Updates

Info for Students, Employees and Community on Pima’s COVID-19 Web Page
The latest information and employee notices at pima.edu/covid19 include a link to FAQs about the self-reporting requirement under the temporary COVID-19 personnel policies, plus a link the Employee Handbook.

College leadership is committed to communicate with you early and often during this uncertain time. However, they realize all of that information and details sometimes can be overwhelming. Chancellor Lee Lambert no longer is sending daily updates, but you can get the most current information on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the College at pima.edu/covid19, which also has a Student Notices page. Also, regularly check your College email.

For health-related info visit:

The Chancellor’s most recent communications to employees can be found online.

2020 Virtual All College Day Is Tomorrow
This year’s All College Day is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow on YouTube. The theme for 2020 Virtual All College Day is “Reimagining the Future.”

The agenda is posted on the Intranet via pima.edu/acd (MyPima log in required.). You also can check your email for Zoom links to afternoon sessions. If you have any questions, contact College Events, collegeevents@pima.edu.

Micro-Conference with Micro-Learning Sessions
Earlier today, a micro-conference for Pima faculty and instructional staff kicked off and will continue with daily sessions until Aug. 18 to provide information about aspects of teaching and working at the College that are new or have changed this fall. Micro-learning sessions are 30 minutes (20 minutes for content, 10 for Q & A). Most are repeated and are designed as drop-in sessions. More information and the schedule can be found here. These sessions are designed to be orientation and workshop meetings for fall startup. Attendees will not receive additional compensation.

New Library Black Lives Matter LibGuide
The LibGuide at https://libguides.pima.edu/blacklivesmatter will help you find library resources (as well as streaming and ebook options) that explore race and racism in history and in current culture. All books and DVDs are linked to catalog records so you can easily see which campus has them and if they are available. Films also are listed and linked via Kanopy for instant streaming for students, staff and faculty.

Who You Gonna Call … at Pima?
It can be challenging while working from home to determine proper procedures and who to contact for what. Two internal, centralized directories are available to help.

Faculty Leadership (“The Matrix“): Faculty Affairs and Development now maintains the College’s centralized list of department heads and other faculty leadership positions. The Academic Divisions Contacts Matrix is available for all College employees to view. It is updated for 2020-2021 and includes the faculty leadership in each division. This document will be updated as notifications, including out-of-cycle changes, occur.

Use of the matrix can help:

  • locate a specific discipline within an Academic Division;
  • assist adjunct faculty in identifying their supervisor;
  • verify supervisory roles for student concerns and workflows;
  • locate contact information of each dean and support staff.

PCC College-Wide Resource Directory: This is an open-sourced document to help Pima employees find contact information for different resources. One of the tabs,”Who you gonna call?”, lists such things as Program Review, Notary and Timesheets. Another lists support staff,while yet another tab includes a listing of conference rooms. This Google sheet will help you fill in additional areas that you may be familiar with. The outline has been created, but the creators hope that other employees will add things in their area that they get contacted about or that they have had trouble tracking down. Any employee may add a tab and relevant information. If you have any questions, contact Michelle Henry, mlhenry2@pima.edu.

One-on-one Retirement Planning Meetings with Fidelity Available
College employees can schedule one-on-one telephone or Zoom appointments with Fidelity’s Certified Financial Retirement Planner Nick Maly between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Aug. 26. Learn more about the complimentary services and call 800-642-7131 or go online for scheduling.

Faculty Services and Resource Centers Virtual Open House
All faculty are welcome to join one of the Faculty Services and Resource Centers open house sessions virtually to ask questions, learn about services and resources, and say hello to staff. Note: This is NOT a two-hour presentation--drop in whenever you can. Join a video meeting or dial in:

Faculty Services and Resource Centers Available Virtually
Campus staff from the Faculty Resource Centers and Campus Resource Centers are available to assist you virtually in Fall 2020. Also:

Faculty Services and Resource Centers have new contact information, Faculty-Services@pima.edu and 520-206-6511.
