PCC Volleyball Drops First Match in Regionals

 Tucson, AZ – The volleyball team (14-13) fell in three sets (25-19, 25-10, 25-22) to Phoenix College, the No. 2 seed, on Thursday in its first match of the Region I, Division II double elimination tournament.

The No. 3 seeded Aztecs will play No. 4 Scottsdale Community College on Friday at 11 a.m. at Glendale Community College. The winner of the match will play at 7 p.m. Friday night. The Aztecs went 1-2 against Scottsdale this season.

In its match against Phoenix College, the Aztecs earned a few ties but couldn’t take the lead in the first set. Phoenix took control down the stretch scoring four straight points which gave them a 23-17 lead. The Aztecs couldn’t recover after falling behind by 13 points early in the second set. Pima fought back in the third set, earning six straight points to take a 12-11 lead and they later had a 16-15 advantage. With the score tied at 22-22, Phoenix went on to score the last three points to take the match.
