Pitcher selected in MLB draft; soccer goalkeeper featured in press article

A former Pima baseball pitcher was taken in the MLB draft on Tuesday while in men's soccer news, a former Pima standout goalkeeper is featured in an incoming recruiting class write-up.

Julio Felix (Sunnyside HS) was drafted by the Detroit Tigers, who in the 12th round, had the 394th pick. Felix had a 9-2 record with a 2.06 ERA this past season. He pitched 91.2 innings and had 68 strikeouts. He was named First-Team All-ACCAC and First-Team All-Region I, Division I.

Pima goalkeeper Daniel Bacon (Sahuaro HS) signed on to play at the University of South Carolina Upstate. He is one of 10 in the new recruiting class featured in an article written on the school's website.

Bacon helped the men's soccer team to a 19-7 overall record, a Region I Championship, a West District Championship and a 5th place finish at Nationals. He finished with 90 saves on the year.
