PCC Releases Truth in Taxation Information

Tucson, AZ – Pima County Community College District has released its Truth in Taxation information for the fiscal year 2013-14 budget, in compliance with Arizona Revised Statute 15-1461.01.

According to the Truth in Taxation information, the College is proposing an increase in primary tax revenues of $1,886,689, an increase of 2.0 percent over fiscal year 2012-2013, as allowed by state law. Details concerning the impact of this proposal, as compared to not increasing taxes, are listed in the Truth in Taxation notice published in the Arizona Daily Star on May 24 and June 4, 2013. The College’s secondary tax rate is proposed to decrease from 0.0257 to 0.0187 and associated secondary tax revenues for 2013-2014 will be decreased by approximately $675,000, to about $1.4 million.

The College’s publicly elected five-member Board of Governors will hold a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2013-2014 budget, tax rates and levies on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. The public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the College’s Community/Board Room at the District Office, 4905 E. Broadway Blvd. Review the College’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2014 Budget.

A Special Meeting to vote on property tax levies and the budget follows the public hearing. During the Special Meeting, the Governing Board will consider a motion to levy the increased property tax by a roll call vote. Any increase would take effect on July 1, 2013.

The Board’s Regular Meeting for June is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Board of Governors’ meetings are open to the public and can be viewed live through the PCC website.
