Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Elementary Education AA - Elementary Education Concentration (EDUL), the learner will be able to:

1. The teacher understands how learners grow and develop, recognizing that patterns of learning and development vary individually within and across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and designs and implements developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences. (Learner Development.)
2. The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards. (Learning Differences.)
3. The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-­motivation. (Learning Environments.)

Upon successful completion of the Elementary Education AA - Early Childhood Education Concentration (EDUC), the learner will be able to:

1. To reflect mastery of child development and characteristics of children 0-8 years of age (Child Development)
2. To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of family and community characteristics to support and empower families through reciprocal and respectful relationships (Building Family and Community Relationships)
3. To explain the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment including observation and documentation and other appropriate strategies (Observing, Documenting, and Assessing to Support Young Children and Families)
4. To integrate understanding of and relationships with children and their families; apply their understanding of developmentally effective approaches to teaching and learning; and demonstrate knowledge of academic disciplines to design, implement, and evaluate experiences that promote positive development and learning for all young children. (Teaching and Learning)
5. To identify with and become involved with the early childhood field though continuous and collaborative learning to inform practice. (To demonstrate the ability to be engaged in informed advocacy for children and the profession.)
