On March 9, 2018, Pima Community College invited students, community members, and staff to find out about three central priorities at Pima that are transforming the institution:
- The implementation of guided pathways
- The establishment of Centers of Excellence
- Adopting a culture, college-wide, that focuses on diversity
Participants heard very brief overviews of the priorities and then collaborated in small-group round-table discussions to provide input that will help guide how Pima moves forward with the implementation of these topics.

2017 Futures Conferences:
Pima Community College invited students, community members, and staff to help the College distill strategic directions that would guide major initiatives at the College in 2017-2020 at the fourth annual Futures Conferences in 2017. The College's Strategic Planning Team specifically wanted input to identify priorities for the College's 2017-2020 Strategic Plan. Past conferences contributed to a new Mission Statement and have refined strategic goals. The conferences included updates on the Education and Facilities master plans and small-group round-table discussions followed by brief reports.
Input from the 2017 Futures Conference events was reviewed by the College's Strategic Planning Team and taken into consideration as Pima's 2017-2021 Strategic Plan was finalized. Among the priorities identified through those sessions were "establish guided pathways for in-demand programs" and "Align College programs, processes, systems and resources to support economic opportunities within Pima County through relationships with local business and industry." The final strategic plan was approved by the College's Governing Board in May 2017 and you can access the document online. The priorities identified through the Futures Conference are woven into the plan, including strategic goal 1.1 "Establish guided pathways for all programs that provide clear academic pathways with aligned support services and on ramps to improve student access and success" and strategic goal 2.5 "Increase the relevance of PCC offerings for business/industry".
