April 2, 2014:  Chancellor Lee Lambert notifies staff via email that the HLC visit to PCC is scheduled for Sept. 15-17, 2014.  This information is also shared as a Press Release and College website homepage announcement.

March 31, 2014:  Acting Provost Zelema Harris sends an email to employees describing our progress in the HLC self-study process.

March 13, 2014: Chancellor Lee D. Lambert releases Report to the Community, describing PCC’s current state, future challenges and opportunities.

Feb. 28, 2014:  Acting Provost Zelema Harris sends an email to employees describing our progress in the HLC self-study process. 

Spring 2014:  The HLC Project Management Team is presenting HLC Foundation Workshops to our leadership teams at all campuses.  Campus teams will create their own action plans to disseminate this information to their employees.  A follow-up visit to each campus is planned in late April/early May to answer questions and give updates. Jan. 31, 2014:  Acting Provost Zelema Harris sends an email to employees describing our progress in the HLC self-study process.  The Self-Study Steering Committee and all Self-Study committee members are invited to a meeting at the 29th Street Center.  View the video [transcript]

Jan. 14, 2014:  Kay McClenney, a nationally respected expert on developmental education, gave a presentation to PCC faculty and administration titled "Reclaiming the American Dream."   View the video [Transcript]

Nov. 15, 2013:  All Self-Study teams met at the 29th Street Center from 3:30-5 p.m. on Friday, November 15 for a progress report and to learn about the Fast-Action Teams that have been established to implement changes so that the College is fully in compliance with HLC requirements.  View the presentation provided by Provost Migler.

Oct. 10-31, 2013:  Provost Migler and other administrators from the Provost's Office will hold a series of hour-long forums at each of the campuses. 

  • Downtown Campus, Oct. 10, 11 a.m. - noon
  • Northwest Campus, Oct. 10, 4 - 5 p.m.
  • Desert Vista Campus, Oct. 24, 11 a.m. - noon
  • West Campus, Oct. 24, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
  • Community Campus, Oct. 30, 9 - 10 a.m.
  • East Campus, Oct. 31, 1 - 2 p.m.

Sept. 26, 2013:  In an email to employees, Provost Migler announces that Phase 1 of the Self-Study has been completed and provides additional information on the Self-Study process.

Sept. 20, 2013:  Provost Migler provides a video update on our Self-Study progress.

Sept. 6, 2013:  Provost Migler and Vice Provost Martinez Sanchez invite students, full-time faculty, adjunct faculty and staff instructors to volunteer for Self-Study committees.  The deadline for completing the volunteer forms, found on the MyPima Home tab, is September 15 at midnight.

August 23, 2013:  Provost Migler presents a 'crash course' on the HLC Self-Study process at All College Day.  View:  Video | Powerpoint

August 22, 2013:  A Progress Chart is posted to provide information on Self-Study Committee activities.

August 6, 2013:  The HLC responds to the Monitoring Report, accepting the proposed plan of action to bring the College into full compliance with Assumed Practices.  Chancellor Lambert sends an announcement to employees.

July 29, 2013:  PCC submits a required Monitoring Report to the HLC.  The report outlines dozens of ways that College can improve its operations in two key areas.    Provost Migler sends an announcement to employees and students.

July 18, 2013:  Provost Jerry Migler emails College employees with an update on the Steering Committee, Self-Study Committees and the Monitoring Report.

July 16 and 18, 2013: At its meetings, the Monitoring Report writing team:

  • Reviewed comments about aspects of the Monitoring Report draft since it was posted online on July 3. A total of 107 comments were submitted to the team through an online survey during the July 3-14 comment period. In addition, the team received 25 sets of comments by other means. Many were heavily annotated paper copies of the report or multipage commentaries referring to numerous specific passages of the report.
  • Applied a rubric, or set of standards, to each comment in order to evaluate all comments fairly and consistently.
  • Continued to incorporate suggestions into the Monitoring Report as appropriate.

July 12, 2013:  All Self-Study teams met at the 29th Street Center from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, July 12.  In addition, each team is scheduling bi-weekly team meetings at different times, dates and locations.

July 11, 2013:  At its weekly meeting, the Monitoring Report writing team reviewed comments about aspects of the Monitoring Report draft since it was posted online on July 3. The 73 comments were submitted to the team through an online survey.

July 3, 2013:  A draft of the Monitoring Report is now available for public review and comment.  Comments may be submitted until Sunday, July 14, 2013.
