Immediate Suspension from College Property with the Possibility of Expulsion

A student may be immediately suspended from College property when his/her conduct causes or precipitates situations which include, but are not limited to:

  1. The threat to the peace, safety, or welfare of any person or group (or actual injury to).
  2. The disruption of or threat to the educational process or activities.
  3. The possibility of or actual, willful damage to physical property of the College.
  4. Repeated Code of Conduct violations.

Any of the above actions may result in expulsion from the College which is the withdrawal of the student's right to attend classes and without a provision for readmission.

If a campus administrator or designee deems a behavior dangerous or disruptive, they have the authority to immediately suspend the student and notify campus executive administration and campus police. The appropriate administrator or designee initiates the Code of Conduct process.  The suspension remains in effect until a final decision has been made or student is authorized re-entry after a specified time by the campus administrator or designee.

A suspension from one campus applies to all campuses and activities sponsored by Pima Community College.  The Department of Public Safety will notify the student by letter of the decision to immediately suspend the student from campus.  The student may return to campus with a police escort only to pick up personal possessions, to attend a meeting with the appropriate administrator or his/her designee, or to participate in a Student Conduct Review Committee (SCRC) hearing as requested.
