Nursing AAS - Additional Information on Program Admission
The Nursing Program requires a special admission process beyond general admission to Pima Community College.
- Students new to Pima must complete the general College admissions form. This is available online and in print.
- Students need to meet the basic requirements for the Nursing Program, also known as prerequisites, before they can apply to the program.
- Once these prerequisites have been met and the grades or assessment scores have been posted to the student’s academic record, students can go online to request a program application. If students have met all the prerequisites, they are automatically assigned the next available seat in the next available class. If prerequisites have not been met, students will be informed about the missing requirements.
- The completed electronic program application is transmitted directly to the West Campus Admissions Office. Due to the requirement of the Arizona State Board of Nursing, a paper application must also be on file. Once the electronic application is received, students will be mailed the paper application which needs to be completed and returned to the West Campus Admissions Office in person, by mail or by fax.
Transfer Students: If students have prior course work from another institution of higher education, students need to have an official transcript sent to Pima Community College and have it evaluated for the AAS Nursing Program. Information on how to transfer credits to Pima is available online (pima.edu/transfer).
Financial Aid: Financial Aid is available. Students are strongly advised to limit the number of credits taken outside of the requirements and pre-requisites for the AAS Nursing Program so that they do not run out of financial aid eligibility before the program is completed. Students should talk with a campus financial aid specialist for more information.
