SALT program assists students with money management
November 14, 2012
The PCC Financial Aid Office entered a partnership with American Student Assistance (ASA), a non-profit organization, to assist PCC students with money management.
The program, called SALT, has two main focuses: financial literacy and default management.
Students, alumni and employees are invited to create a SALT account to learn how to make smart money decisions and take advantage of ASA’s financial knowledge. Online users will find:
- Interactive money management tools that show you how to take control of your finances.
- My Money 101—a self-paced, online resource that teaches you practical money management strategies for budgeting, credit cards, banking and more.
- A personal dashboard that tracks all of your federal student loans from PCC in one place.
- Loan advice from SALT’s expert counselors.
- Exclusive benefits that help you save and spend wisely.
The Financial Aid Office will use SALT’s default management piece to contact students with student loans before they go into repayment. ASA also has the tools available to assist with financial issues a student may be having. With this service, PCC should see an almost immediate reduction in its default rate.
