December 11, 2013

Donate $10, receive up to 60 pounds of fresh produce and help honor society

Tucson, AZ – On Saturday, Pima Community College’s Northwest Campus hosts its monthly Market on the Move event. This event is co-sponsored by PCC and the Northwest YMCA.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, PCC’s Northwest Campus hosts Market On the Move from 8-11 a.m. During that time, people can show up in Northwest’s North Parking Lot, donate $10 and receive as much as 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Those buying the produce are urged to use what they need and share with friends and neighbors.

A portion of the funds goes to the YMCA and PCC to provide scholarship funds for PCC students and community youth.

The food comes from an 18,000-pound delivery from The 3000 Club, a Phoenix nonprofit organization that rescues excess produce from the Arizona-Mexico border for distribution in metro Phoenix and Tucson.

MOM events in 2014 are scheduled 8-11 a.m., Jan. 11, Feb. 8, March 8, April 12 and May 10.
