Public’s Insights Sought as PCC Plans Its Future

October 11, 2012

Suggestions from Brainstorming Sessions Could Be Part of 2013-15 College Plan

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College is holding a series of brainstorming sessions around metropolitan Tucson in October and November for the public to suggest how PCC can better serve the community in the next two years.

Insights from the sessions could become part of PCC’s new College Plan, a detailed blueprint of actions the College intends to undertake in 2013-2015.

“Our College Plans do not sit in a desk drawer, gathering dust,” Interim Chancellor Dr. Suzanne Miles emphasizes. “College Plans typically contain nearly 200 action items, each with a funding source, responsible party and completion date. If something is in the Plan, it will get done, and by participating in the forums, the public’s voice will be heard.”

The College has identified three broad initiatives for the 2013-15 Plan: academics, facilities and ways to ensure the success of the new chancellor.

“Through the forums, the public can help us think through the initiatives, sharpening their focus,” Dr. Miles said. “Or they can suggest that the College target an entirely different set of issues.”

The public’s insights will be shared with College staff and the PCC Governing Board. In 2013, PCC will report back to those who participated in the forums, and to the community. PCC will present a draft of the Plan for Board approval in May or June 2013.
