Student Art Exhibit Reception at PCC’s Downtown Campus
September 24, 2012
Tucson, AZ – A new art exhibit featuring the work of Pima Community College students opens Sept. 28 with a reception at the Gallery@Downtown Campus.
“New Faces” features 15 life-size self-portraits, as well as paintings and drawings and a mural created in collaboration with more than 100 students. The self-portraits are largely symbolic, reflecting the diverse life experiences and perspectives of Pima’s students.
“The portraits ─ all in black and white ─ are impressive in size and depth, each of them recounting a very personal aspect of the student’s life and beliefs,” said Mariana Carreras, department chair of the Arts and Humanities Department at Downtown Campus. “Their variety and passion are also exemplary of the diversity of views, opinions and backgrounds so celebrated in the student population at Pima."
The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 28, 2013. The Gallery is on the second floor of the Campus Center at Pima’s centrally located Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave.
