200 Top Freshmen Scholars to Attend PCC Orientation

Tucson, AZ – Nearly 200 of Pima County’s top incoming college freshmen are expected to attend the Pima Scholars Orientation Thursday at 7 p.m. at Pima Community College’s Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave.
The students are recipients of the Pima Merit Scholarship, which is awarded to students identified by high schools in Pima County as being top scholars in their graduating classes. The scholarship has been awarded to 1,127 recipients since its inception.
The scholarship is available for four semesters and can be used to cover tuition and fees for up to 16 credits per semester.
In addition to demonstrated academic achievement, Pima Scholars must:
- enroll at PCC as a full-time student (12 or more credits each term)
- complete 12 credits each term with a 3.0 GPA
- be a resident of Pima County and eligible for in-state tuition
At the orientation, students will hear presentations about PCC’s joint-admissions collaboration with the University of Arizona, PCC’s Honors Program, and PCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honorary society for two-year colleges.
