Public Invited to PCC Forums to Offer Insights on Chancellor Search

August 22, 2012

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College has scheduled a series of forums Aug. 27-29 for the public to offer insights regarding the PCC Governing Board’s search for a new chancellor.

The meetings will be led by Elizabeth Rocklin of R.H. Perry & Associates, an executive search firm. In June, the Board hired R.H. Perry & Associates to assist in its search for a new chancellor.

Ms. Rocklin will be seeking answers to three questions:

  • What are the principal challenges and opportunities which Pima must address in the next five to 10 years?
  • What should be the principal background and experience, educational qualifications, and professional and personal characteristics we should seek in a chancellor to ensure that we successfully meet those challenges and opportunities?
  • What are the names of individuals who should be encouraged to become candidates for chancellor?

Also, the Board has scheduled a public meeting at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27 to discuss the search. The meeting will be held in Room C-105 of PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway.

At a Special Meeting on Aug. 20, the Board voted unanimously to set Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 5 p.m. as the deadline for the public to submit nominations for an advisory committee that will help the Board in its search for a new chancellor.

Anyone interested in submitting a name should send it to ChancellorSearch@pima.edu.

The Board is seeking the names of individuals for the advisory search committee, as well as constituent groups that should be represented. People also can nominate themselves.

The committee will consist of about 25-30 people who represent a broad cross-section of the community. It also will include representatives from PCC and a student.

The Board also voted unanimously to set Friday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. as the deadline for the public to offer its insights into challenges PCC is likely to face over the next decade.
