July 31, 2012
Tucson, AZ – Seven local artists chosen for the Pima Community College’s fourth Sculpture-On-Campus project are now installing their works the College’s East Campus.
The artists and their works for the project are:
- Jason Breitenbucher,“Solvolaré”
- Jason Butler, “Donald Judd, “The Cubes Alone Were Never Enough!”
- Kevin Caron, “Wherever You Go, There You Are”
- Joe Dal Pra, “Control and Obsession 2”
- Elizabeth Frank, “Earth and Sky”
- Barbara Jo McLaughlin, “Anticipation”
- Joan Waters, “ultimate reality show”
Mike Stack, a PCC Art Faculty member since 2002 who helps coordinate the project, said works are chosen to inspire the kind of creative thinking that is essential for any academic institution. Each artist commits to a minimum time that the selected work will be displayed, but many leave works much longer.
Since the first installations in 2004, a total of 19 sculptures have been displayed throughout the East Campus, 8181 E. Irvington Road. The latest installation will continue through Sept. 1.
Three of those selected for the 2012 Sculpture-On-Campus installation are PCC art faculty members: Joe Dal Pra and Barbara Jo McLaughlin, both full-time, as well as Jason Butler, a PCC adjunct. Butler already has installed his work.
Once the installations are complete, a reception is planned for 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 10, 2012, in the East Campus Courtyard.
