How Can You Eat Right and Support a PCC Honor Society?

April 6, 2012

Tucson, AZ – If you want to eat more fresh produce, share with your community and support academic excellence, come to Pima Community College’s Desert Vista Campus this Saturday.

PCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is hosting a Market On the Move that will offer up to 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for only $10. From 8 a.m. to noon, people can show up in Desert Vista’s North Parking Lot, pay $10 and receive up to 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Those buying the produce are encouraged to use what they need and share with friends and neighbors.

Ten percent of the proceeds will go to the society, which recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. That’s means $1 of every $10 taken in on Saturday will go to PCC’s PTK.

A second Market on the Move will be held at the same time and location on Saturday, May 5.

The 60-pound allotments will come from an 18,000-pound delivery from Market On the Move, a program of The 3000 Club, a Phoenix nonprofit organization that rescues excess produce from the Arizona-Mexico border for distribution in metro Phoenix and Tucson.
