March 9, 2012

Tucson, AZ – Registration begins Monday, March 12 for Pima Community College’s summer offerings, which include credit classes in subjects from Accounting to Writing, as well as noncredit Continuing Education programs for kids, teens, aspiring entrepreneurs, would-be chefs and just about everyone else.

This summer Pima is offering hundreds of classes in more than 80 programs leading to two-year associate degrees in arts, business, science and general studies, as well as applied arts and applied science.

Students can register in person at one of PCC’s six campuses, or online through MyPima.

PCC’s Summer 2012 Schedule of Classes available at numerous locations around Tucson or online.

The Summer 2012 Schedule also contains the schedule of PCC’s Summer noncredit Continuing Education offerings for June through August, including information about Pima for Kids programs and camps.

PCC’s Summer 2012 Semester starts on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Also on March 12, new admission standards will be in effect for PCC’s credit programs. The change affects all new students registering for the Summer 2012 term and beyond.

The new standards will require new incoming students to demonstrate evidence of potential success at PCC, as measured on assessment tests in Reading, Writing or Mathematics, or be a graduate of an accredited four-year college or university.

The standards were endorsed by the PCC Governing Board in September 2011. In its endorsement, the Board lauded faculty, staff and administrators for developing “thoughtful and progressive solutions to help underprepared students succeed in higher education and enter or advance in the workplace.”
