PCC Adult Education to Celebrate Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning
March 29, 2012
Tucson, AZ – Members of Pima Community College’s AmeriCorps Program will join other volunteers from across the state and nation to celebrate Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning.
Every day, AmeriCorps members across the country make a powerful difference by serving in areas of education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, economic opportunities, and supporting veterans and military families.
Since 1994, more than 700,000 people have taken the pledge to “get things done for America.” These members have mobilized and managed an additional 3.4 million community volunteers for a total of 1 billion hours of service.
In Tucson, AmeriCorps will mark the day with a special cleanup project. Tomorrow, March 30, volunteers will partner with the City of Tucson cleaning the grounds of the El Pueblo Center.
