PCC Interim Chancellor Announces Acting President for East Campus

Tucson, AZ – Dr. Nancee Sorenson, Vice President for Student Development at Pima Community College’s East Campus, will serve as Acting President at East Campus, PCC Interim Chancellor Dr. Suzanne Miles announced.

Dr. Sorenson is taking the position temporarily vacated by East Campus President Charlotte Fugett, who is serving as Acting Provost. Ms. Fugett will return to East Campus as President when a national search for a permanent Provost is completed.

“Dr. Sorenson has an eclectic background that includes workforce partnerships, regional economic development and student services,” Dr. Miles said. “She understands the commitment and energy needed to lead a campus and be a valued part of the community.”

Dr. Sorenson has worked at PCC since 1992, when she was hired as Admissions Director. From 1996-2002, she served as Director of Enrollment Services and Registrar. In 2002, Dr. Sorenson was named Dean of West Campus. She has served as Vice President of East Campus since 2009.

Dr. Sorenson is a member of the board of directors of MHC Healthcare, a non-profit organization that operates community health clinics in Pima County, including clinics at PCC’s East and West campuses. She has served as advisor to the PCC chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa scholastic honorary society.

Dr. Sorenson received a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. She has a Master of Science in Agency Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, both from Indiana State University.

East Campus served approximately 14,000 students in Fiscal Year 2011 and is home to PCC’s Pharmacy Technology, EMT-Basic Certificate, Administration of Justice and Veterinary Technology programs.
