PCC’s Desert Vista Campus Co-sponsors Native College and Career Night Jan. 13

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College’s Desert Vista Campus is co-sponsoring a night of free workshops and a college fair for American Indian high school and community college students and their parents on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.
Native College and Career Night: “Creating a Vision for My Future,” is 6-8:30 p.m. Highlights include College Student panels and Financial Aid workshops for parents. A College Fair also will be set up in the Ocotillo Room.
“Pima Community College is proud to support individuals, families and organizations that appreciate the value of high quality education and fulfilling career opportunities,” said Dr. Johnson Bia, President of Desert Vista Campus. “Native College and Career Night fosters a culture of learning, thriving and aspiring in the 21st century.”
Bia said all students and prospective students, along with their friends and families, are invited.
“The Native Education Alliance remains committed to strengthening Native American students and families, which includes unique programming such as this Native College and Career Night, to help students shape meaningful and strong visions for their futures,” said Melodie Lopez, President of Indigenous Strategies, LLC., and co-founder of Native Education Alliance, a volunteer network of Native educators.
Registration begins and the College Fair opens at 5:30 p.m. in the atrium of the Pueblo Building at Desert Vista Campus, 5901 S. Calle Santa Cruz. Native College and Career Night is sponsored by the Native Education Alliance, Tucson Indian Center, College Horizons, University of Arizona Early Outreach and PCC.
