October 26, 2011
Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College East Campus again is hosting the start of an El Tour de Tucson bicycle race.
The Campus, 8181 E. Irvington Road, is the starting point for the 85-mile race in the 29th annual El Tour de Tucson, on Saturday, Nov. 19. Campus administrators say anyone needing to be on campus that day before 10 a.m., including those involved in youth football on the football field at the campus entrance, should use the Poinciana Drive access off of South Pantano Road. The race begins at 9 a.m.
Last year, the campus hosted El Tour’s 79-mile race.
Each year, more than 9,000 riders participate in the various rides of El Tour. Ride lengths this year range from 111 miles to a quarter mile. Each year, El Tour raises a total of nearly $2 million for charities. For more on the event, visit www.perimeterbicycling.com.
